Vanessa and Roy - Wedding Day

Another Christmas has come and gone but for one couple this year’s holiday season will always have special meaning. On Saturday, December 29, I had the pleasure of shooting Vanessa and Roy’s wedding day. While the temperature hovered between -12 and -15 most of the day, it didn’t stop this couple from starring in a great celebration and even enjoying the cool, wintery landscape that Edmonton sports at this time of year.

Vanessa is escorted down the isle by her parents at St. Joseph’s Basilica.

The ceremony begins as the bride and groom link hands.

Loving vows are exchanged.

And the couple becomes husband and wife.

Followed by some happy post-kiss expressions.

While the lion’s share of formals were done at Sutton Place Hotel, we made a quick stop at the Royal Museum near last light.

The couple shares a loving embrace in front of the Christmas tree.

Roy sets the mood with some romantic piano work.

The stunning bride poses for a portrait.

And a great looking wedding party hits the bar.

The reception was held at the UofA Faculty Club. Below, the crowned newlyweds respond to some glass tinkling at the head table.

The speeches had the wedding party and guests howling with laughter. Roy, it’s been a struggle not to post a shot of the lingerie your mother-in-law purchased for you - you owe me one, buddy.

The couple shared their first dance.

The couple feeds each other the newly cut cake.

The icy air outside didn’t stop these two from getting some lamp lit shots late in the evening.

Thanks for a great experience, Roy and Vanessa. You two were both a ton of fun and managed to pull off a fantastic wedding. Enjoy your warm-weather honeymoon - you deserve it! Best wishes and have a Happy New Year. Cheers!
